‘Ye toh kuch zyada he hogya’ – Fans react as one of Tanzim Sakib’s old misogynistic post goes viral on social media

Tanzim Sakib had an incredible outing against India during Asia Cup 2023

After making a strong international debut, Bangladesh fast bowler Tanzim Hasan Sakib has experienced a very interesting few days as his uploads about ladies on social media have taken off like wildfire.

Some of Tanzim’s uploads have been perceived as eviscerating women’s dignity and exhibiting a clear case of sexism against them. Many ladies have criticised him on social media and asked the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) to conduct an investigation into the situation.

An old social media post of Tanzim Hasan Sakib took the spotlight as it read, “If the wife works, the husband’s rights are not ensured. If the wife works, the child’s rights are not ensured. If the wife works, her elegance is damaged. If the wife works, the family is ruined. If the wife works, the veil is ruined. If the wife works, society is ruined.”

In another post, he seems to have misled males into believing that they should avoid dating women who have many male friends at school because the result will lead to not having ‘modest’ children.

Feminists demand action against Tanzim Sakib

Many women using social media questioned such nasty messages, especially in light of the fact that women make up a sizable portion of the workforce in the factories that make the jerseys for the Bangladesh squad. According to reports, the BCB is looking into the situation and will make a statement eventually.

A very scathing remark on Tanzim Hasan Sakib was made by feminist author Jannatun Nayeem Prity, who is in Paris. The Times of India quoted her as she said, “I feel sorry for you that you don’t consider your mother a normal human being.” On a Facebook post criticising Tanzim, another author, Swakrito Noman, referred to the remarks as “deeply offensive.”

The bowler may have to encounter severe consequences because of his social media statements after what may have been a brilliant debut in which he defeated Indian skipper Rohit Sharma at the Asia Cup. He was lethal at the death as well as he closed out the innings to guide his nation to their first win in the Super Four stage of Asia Cup 2023.
