India skipper Rohit Sharma has talked about the rumours of MS Dhoni’s retirement from the Indian T20 League. There is a lot of talk around MS Dhoni’s retirement as some experts are predicting season 16 as his last tournament in the league. meanwhile, India captain Rohit spoke about the speculations and gave a buffeting reply to a question over Dhoni’s retirement.

Ahead of the 16th season Mumbai has organized a preseason press conference with Captain Rohit Sharma and coach Mark Boucher. In the PC a reporter has asked Rohit about speculations over Dhoni’s retirement. Speaking on the same Rohit praised Dhoni’s fitness and called him much fitter to play 2-3 more seasons. Rohit said, “I’ve been hearing for the last 2-3 years that this is going to be MS Dhoni’s last season. I think he is fit enough to play a few more seasons.”

Notably, MS Dhoni is set to lead the four-time champions Chennai in the 16th season of the tournament. Chennai will square off against Hardik Pandya’s Gujarat in the opening game on March 31 at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Meanwhile, Rohit also spoke about Mumbai’s preparations ahead of the season. He also lauded the new rule of an Impact player and called it a game-changer. Although, he answered all the questions but dumped one about him taking a rest during the tournament to manage the workload.

Jasprit Bumrah will be a big miss – Rohit Sharma 

Further in the Press conference Rohit also spoke about Jasprit Bumrah’s injury and replacement for him. He said, “He (Bumrah) is a big miss. But it’s an opportunity for the youngsters in the team. I don’t want to put too much pressure on the youngsters. Leading up to the first game, guys know what their role is, the last thing we want to do is put pressure on them. For guys who haven’t played the IPL before, there are quite a few guys, and if they get an opportunity, I would love to keep it simple for them.”

Praising the impact player rule Rohit said, “I like that new rule and new idea in IPL – Impact player and changing teams XI after the toss. I like it. Our first match is against Bangalore, we know how they play. So, we’ll field our best 12 players (XI plus impact player) against them.” Meanwhile, fans react to his comments on MS Dhoni’s retirement. A Twitter user said, “yes Dhoni will play for more years.”
