Wriddhiman Saha has been having a rough time in the last few months. In February this year, Saha was dropped from India’s Test team ahead of the two-match Test series against Sri Lanka. He was visibly upset after the snub and revealed that he was given assurance of his place in the team from BCCI president Sourav Ganguly in an interview.

What followed was a notice from the board asking him to give an explanation on why he spoke so openly about his non-selection. For the unversed, one of the rules a BCCI contracted player needs to follow is not to publicly speak about his/her non-selection in the team. Last month, a squad for the Test match against England was announced, and once again, the Siliguri-born player wasn’t included.

Instead, Rishabh Pant and KS Bharat were included in the team. Meanwhile, the 37-year-old has said that he knows he won’t be picked which is why his main focus will be playing domestic cricket and the Indian T20 League.

“Since it has been officially made clear by the Indian team management that I won’t get picked, my main focus will be on domestic cricket – if and when I play – and then of course the Indian T20 League,” Saha told SportsKeeda.

However, recently, the right-hander left his state team ahead of the ongoing Ranji Trophy Quarter Final game against Jharkhand. Abhishek Porel is playing as the wicketkeeper in his place. Saha also spoke about the possibility of playing County Cricket like his teammate Cheteshwar Pujara has done this year. The former dismissed saying that as it is tough to spend time with family in the current era, he wants to spend some time with them at this point.

‘No, no. As it is, it is difficult to devote time to the family, so I just want to spend some quality time with them now,” he said while dismissing the possibility of him playing County cricket.
