Novak Djokovic’s humorous impersonations of a number of tennis icons during a practice session during the 2023 US Open had tennis fans in stitches. In his most recent match, Djokovic won the Cincinnati Open, which just ended, by defeating Carlos Alcaraz 5-7, 7-6(7), and 7-6(4).

The 36-year-old won his 39th ATP Masters 1000 championship with this victory. In addition, he surpassed Ken Rosewall’s previous record of 35 to become the tournament’s oldest champion. After being absent from the Arthur Ashe Stadium for two years since his loss during the 2021 US Open final, the 23-time Grand Slam champion recently made a surprise appearance there.

Novak Djokovic revived his much-loved custom of imitating other players’ serve techniques during his practice session, which delighted the spectators in the stadium. 

He began by perfectly recreating Maria Sharapova’s signature serve routine, complete with her grunt. Additionally, he perfectly mimicked John McEnroe. Additionally, the Serb impersonated Nick Kyrgios and his coach, Goran Ivanisevic.

After being absent from the country forcibly in 2022 and the first few months of this year owing to his COVID-19 vaccination standing, a rejuvenated Djokovic maintains his desire for success has not lessened. He said, “I like the feeling that I have after 20-plus years of professional tennis. There’s still a fire going,”

After a marathon final versus world number one Alcaraz, Djokovic won the Cincinnati title to step up the prep work for Flushing Meadows. He had stated that he had “zero regrets” about missing events in America because of his anti-vaccine attitude. He added, “This rivalry just gets better and better. Amazing player. Tons of respect. For such a young player to show so much poise in important moments is impressive.The feeling I have on the court reminds me a little bit when I was facing Nadal when we were at our prime of our careers. Each point is a hustle. Each point is a battle.”
