‘Wo pehle idhar aa nhi rahe thay lekin…’ – Sarfaraz Khan speaks his heart out after his highly-anticipated dream debut in front of father Naushad Khan

The entire Indian cricketing fraternity, be it the fans, or experts of former cricketers, was talking about only one guy Sarfaraz Khan who made his Test debut after a struggle for a lot of years. It was an emotional moment for the entire family of Sarfaraz Khan as his wife was also there in the stadium, alongside the former’s father and childhood coach as well, Naushad Khan.

After receiving his Test cap from the former Indian legend Anil Kumble, Sarfaraz immediately ran to his father to hug him; he also handed over his Test cap to his father, who kissed out of emotions. Naushad Khan was also seen in the tears of joy after his son finally made it to the senior men’s Test team of India.

Meanwhile, the 26-year-old also lived up to the expectations as he smashed a blistering half-century on his debut, scoring 62 runs off 66 balls, with 9 fours and a six; the youngster’s knock in an unfortunate fashion in a run-out following a miscommunication with the star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja.

However, elated Sarfaraz also revealed how his father wasn’t coming to attend his son’s debut Test match for India and what convinced him later to make it to the venue.

“Bahut accha laga, my father was here when I received the cap. It was my dream to play for India in front of him,” Sarfaraz Khan said to reporters during a press interaction after the end of play on day 1.

“My father wasn’t coming to the ground initially. But some people requested him and he came to witness this special moment. I feel some burden is off my shoulders now that I haven’t let my father’s efforts go to waste,”

Speaking of the action of the match, India posted a big total of 326 runs for the loss of five wickets at the time of stumps on day 1 courtesy of centuries from skipper Rohit Sharma and all-rounder Jadeja, alongside Sarfaraz’s 62 off just 66 balls.
