India is currently playing Sri Lanka in the second ODI of a three-match series at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. The Dasun Shanaka-led side won the toss and elected to bat first in order to tie the series with one game remaining.

What surprised everyone was the absence of Indian spinner Yuzvendra Chahal from the ongoing One-Day International. The Indian Cricket Board then addressed the spinner’s absence on Twitter. The Board stated that Chahal was unable to be selected because of a sore right shoulder. The 32-year-old did not have the best outing in the first ODI of the series, finishing with figures of 58-1.

“Note – Yuzvendra Chahal was unavailable for selection in the 2nd ODI due to a sore right shoulder,” read Indian Cricket Board’s tweet.

In the meantime, captain Rohit Sharma provided more insight into what happened to the star spinner. “One enforced change for us, Chahal in the last game put in a dive and hasn’t recovered well today, so Kuldeep Yadav comes in,” Rohit said at the toss.

Having won the first game, the Men in Blue will look to seal the deal in the second game itself. Former Indian skipper Virat Kohli scored a century in the last match at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati. The second match is being played at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata before the final match at Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram.

Dasun Shanka’s team would like to do well in the next game after having a game to forget the previous time. Dasun Shanaka scored an unbeaten century in the first ODI and will look to replicate that performance in the second. India currently leads the three-match series 1-0.
