Where will the Indian T20 League 2022 Playoffs be held?

The league matches are currently being played in Mumbai and Pune

Narendra Modi Stadium

According to the reports, the Indian T20 League playoffs are to be played in Kolkata and Ahmedabad. When the schedule of the ongoing season was announced last month, it was said that the venues for the playoffs will be announced later. At that time, only the schedule for the matches of the group stage were announced. Currently, the matches are being played at several venues in Maharashtra.

The venues are Wankhede Stadium, D.Y. Patil Stadium and Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai and Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune. Meanwhile. Talking about the playoffs, the Eden Gardens of Kolkata will host the Qualifier One and the Eliminator of the 15th season. On the other hand, the Qualifier Two and the final are to be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

A source from the Board For Control Of Cricket In India (BCCI) has said that the board is confident of hosting the playoffs in two venues. The source added that with the travelling restricted to only two cities, the bio-bubble can be maintained properly.

“So far, the tournament has been going on smoothly and given the current scenario, the Board is confident of hosting the playoffs across two venues. Since travelling will be restricted two just two cities, the bio-bubble can be maintained properly,” a source was quoted as saying by Sportstar

The ongoing league stage of the cash-rich league will conclude on May 22. The playoffs will be played between May 23 to May 29. Earlier, reports emerged that the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow could be a venue considering the fact that a team from the city is participating in the season. However, a source from the BCCI said that the venue was rejected due to logistical reasons.

Last year, the league was hosted in India in six cities- Chennai, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Delhi, Kolkata, and Bangalore. However, due to several COVID19 cases in different teams, the tournament was suspended and then was completed in the United Arab Emirates. The board would want to avoid the same situation this year.
