The match between India and Bangladesh in Group 2 of the 20-20 World Cup 2022 was full of ups and downs. A rain-reduced game saw great on-field action. However, India held their nerves to emerge victorious in the game. India defeated Bangladesh by five runs to get two points on the board.

Bangladesh won the toss and decided to bowl first at the Adelaide Oval. India lost their captain, Rohit Sharma (2), early on, but they came out strong. KL Rahul found his lost form and Virat Kohli continued his brilliance in the mega event. The two kept the boundaries in check and scored 67 runs in their partnership. Rahul (51 runs in 32 balls) was out immediately after reaching his half-century.

Suryakumar Yadav then joined Virat in the middle and played a short cameo of 30 runs in 16 balls. However, after his dismissal, the former Indian captain was the lone warrior in India’s innings as the wickets continued to fall. Virat scored another half-century, finishing with 64 runs in 44 balls in India’s total of 184/6. Hasan Mahmud took three wickets for Bangladesh, while Shakib Al Hasan took two.

Liton Das then gave the Bangla Tigers an explosive start to their chase. He started scoring boundaries from the word go and completed his half-century in no time. On the other hand, Najmul Hossain Shanto, his opening partner, was still in single digits when the rain hit. Bangladesh was 66 in seven overs when it started pouring.

After the rain stopped, the game was reduced to 16 overs, with Bangladesh needing 151 runs to win according to DLS. The break worked out well for the Men in Blue as they bounced back with a spree of wickets. Das (60 runs in 27) was the first to depart after a run-out.

The wickets continued to come India’s way, and no batter could settle in the middle. Towards the end, Nurul Hasan (25) scored a few boundaries to get India close, but to no avail. India was successful in defending 151 runs (DLS) in 16 overs.
