The star all-rounder of the England team, Ben Stokes has replaced Joe Root as the Test captain. The whole cricketing world is waiting to see how the Three-Lions fare under their new leader. Lately, the English team is going through a terrible time in the longest format of the game. They have just managed to win one match in their last 17 outings.

The late slump in form of the team prompted their captain Joe Root to step down from the role in order to move English cricket forward. Following Root relinquishing captaincy, ECB decided to hand over the responsibilities to Ben Stokes.

The start pacer of England, Jofra Archer has expressed his views on the beginning of the Stokes era in Test cricket. He reckons that the team might not even feel the transition as the style of both Root and Stokes are very close. Stokes has been the vice-captain of the team while Root was leading them. The all-rounder also led the team in one Test in Root’s absence. Archer was a part of the playing eleven in that match and as per the speedster, there was no real change.

In his column in the Daily Mail, Archer wrote- “If and when I do return, it will be under a new captain in Ben Stokes, not that I think of playing will feel much different.”

“Him and Joe Root have been so tight working together that we might not notice the transition and that was certainly the case on the one occasion I played under Stokes’s captaincy against West Indies in Southampton two years ago,”- he added.

Archer has praised Stokes and called him a perfect role model in his column. “He is the best role model we have in English cricket because he always gives his best for the team and it encourages others to try to do that too. Everyone tries to copy him and raise their standards,”- he further added. Notably, Archer has missed out on the 15th edition of the Indian T20 League owing to an injury, while Stokes has pulled out of the tournament choosing County Championship over it.
