‘We are not putting too much pressure on him’ – Ravindra Jadeja backs this youngster to the hilt

Chennai skipper Ravindra Jadeja continues to back opening batter Ruturaj Gaikwad despite his back-to-back failures in the ongoing T20 League 2022. Gaikwad has failed to make an impact so far in the tournament. The last season’s Orange Cap winner has returned with scores of 0, 1, and 1 in the first three games respectively. Meanwhile, Jadeja has said that the team is not putting too much pressure on the opening batter. He added that the team will always keep him in a good frame of mind.

“We are not putting too much pressure on him. We are just giving him his time. Whatever preparation he has been doing, we back him, and we always talk to him and keep him in a good frame of mind,” said Jadeja.

The team is also going through a rough patch in the season as they have lost all three games played thus far. This is the first time in the history of the cash-rich league that the Yellow Brigade has lost the first three games in a season.

The team is also plagued by injuries. Deepak Chahar got injured in February during a T20I against the West Indies. Since then, he has been spending time in the National Cricket Academy (NCA) to recover. Another pacer, Adam Milne got injured ahead of the Lucknow game and hasn’t recovered yet.

The team is lacking experience in pace bowling. The likes of Tushar Deshpande and Mukesh Choudhary got the chance to prove their mettle but couldn’t inspire a lot of confidence. The duo is highly inexperienced at this level. They fielded Chris Jordan in the game against Punjab as well but that didn’t change the fortunes of the team either. The team got hit for 180/8 by the Men in Red and Gold.
