Watch- Viv Richards and Javed Miandad relive their rivalry with a fun cycle race on cricket ground

The incident took place at the 15th match of the Pakistan Junior League.

The game of cricket is often played at great seriousness given what’s at stake. Outside of the pitch, however, things are much calmer and more relaxed as broadcasters intend to balance the seriousness of the game with light-hearted moments.

One such instance that has been getting increasingly viewed on social media is a light-hearted moment featuring former Pakistan cricketer Javed Miandad and former West Indies player Sir Viv Richards.

In a video posted by the Pakistan Cricket Board’s official Twitter handle, Miandad and Richards could be seen riding bicycles during the innings break. The two legendary players have been appointed as mentors for the league. Richards mentors the Gwadar Sharks outfit whereas Miandad teaches the Mardan Warriors.

This video has been taken from the innings break between these two teams. Vivian Richards mentored Gwadar Sharks and won the match by massive 77 runs.

Following his appointment as a mentor, Richards had said, “I am absolutely thrilled at reuniting with my mate Javed Miandad at the Pakistan Junior League with whom I cherish some great memories from our playing days. Miandad was a fighter and a tough competitor, and it will be lovely to be working alongside him at the Pakistan Junior League, which is an exciting and innovative concept.”

“During my playing days, I always admired the talent Pakistan produced and this belief strengthened during my time with Quetta Gladiators at the Pakistan Super League. The PCB have gone one step further by introducing age-group franchise cricket, which will help in further nurturing and developing outstanding talent,” Richards revealed. West Indies legend was also impressed by the Pakistan Junior League and has predicted massive success.

“I think the Pakistan Junior League is a tremendous tool for further consolidating Pakistan cricket’s foundations by unearthing and developing quality talent,” he added. Javed Miandad also shared the same thoughts and gave credit to the Pakistan Board for it.

“The PCB deserves a lot of credit for this initiative which will be the first in the cricketing world, During my stint at the PJL I would endeavor to help youngsters in their quest of improvement in their game as I am a firm believer that with strong basics you can build a solid game that can help you in all formats of the game,” said Miandad.
