Former Bangalore skipper Virat Kohli led the team from 2013 to 2021. He replaced Daniel Vettori 10 years back. During the former’s stint, the team reached the final in 2016 and playoffs in 2015, 2020, and 2021. However, just like under the other skippers, the Red Army hasn’t been able to win the title. The same thing happened with the Women’s team in the inaugural Women’s T20 League last month.

In the tournament, the Smriti Mandhana-led side lost the first five games, which put them behind the playoffs contention. Even though they did well in the end, it was a far-fetched journey for them by that time. Meanwhile, during an interaction with Mr. Nags played by Danish Sait, Kohli was heard cussing although the word was bleeped out.

Apparently, it was triggered by the former mentioning Smirti Mandhana’s statement on wanting to match the achievements of Virat for the team. On the other hand, the right-hander knew what Danish meant by the statement. The former went on to cuss the anchor, Sait.

I just hope I reach the level of Virat Kohli: Smriti Mandhana

Meanwhile, ahead of the Women’s T20 League 2023, Smriti Mandhana was made captain of the side. The likes of Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis made the announcement on social media. Ahead of the season, she said that she didn’t like the kind of comparison with Kohli. The former added that she was hoping to achieve what Kohli has done for the three-time finalists

“I don’t like the kind of comparison because what he (Kohli) has achieved is amazing. I just hope that I reach that level, but I’m nowhere near. What he has achieved for this franchise (RCB), I would like to try and do that,” Mandhana told reporters in Mumbai on Sunday, March 5.

Meanwhile, during the Women’s tournament, India’s opening batter received a lot of hate on social media. The fans were angry with her poor captaincy.
