Mohammed Shami became the most trending name on Twitter moments after Pakistan’s heartbreaking loss to England in the 20-20 World Cup final on Sunday at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. After Pakistan’s defeat, he took a brutal ‘karma’ dig at Pakistan bowling legend Shoaib Akhtar‘s Twitter post.
After the match, Akhtar only posted an emoticon of a broken heart on Twitter to express his feelings. Moments later, Shami retweeted it, writing, “Sorry brother, its call karma,” and adding a few broken heart emoticons.
Fans were left perplexed by Shami’s tweet until a video of Akhtar’s remark on the India pacer following the team’s World Cup exit surfaced on Twitter.
“India ko apni captaincy dekhni hogi. Management has to take the blame. Bowling department main confusing selection ke saath Shami ko uthake leke aaye achanak hi. Ache fast bowler hai but banta nehi tha (India need to see their captaincy. Management has to take the blame. There were a few confusing selection in the bowling department, like one with Shami, who all of a sudden was picked. He is a good bowler, but he didn’t fit.),” he said in that video.

Later, in response to Shami’s post, Akhtar shared Harsha Bhogle’s words about Pakistan’s bowling attack. “And this what you call sensible tweet ..” he wrote in the caption.
In the meantime, England became the new T20 World Champions with a five-wicket over Pakistan. Sam Curran’s three-wicket haul and Ben Stokes’ excellent half-century with the bat helped the Three Lions lift the trophy for the second time.
They were able to restrict Babar Azam’s men to a small total of 137 with the ball. Despite a slow start in the chase, England eventually got there with one over to spare. This is the first time in Men’s Cricket history that the same team holds both the 20-20 World Cup and the ODI World Cup at the same time.
