The Sunrisers Eastern Cape defeated Durban Super Giants in their encounter in the SA20 2023 on Sunday. The match played at St George’s Park in Gqeberha saw complete domination from the Eastern Cape as they registered a massive win with a margin of 124 runs.

Batting first, the team led by Aiden Markram scored 210/2 thanks to half-centuries from openers Adam Rossington (72 runs in 30 balls) and Jordan Hermann (59 runs in 44 balls). In addition, Aiden Markram (44 runs in 34 balls) and Tristan Stubbs (27 runs in 13 balls) also played unbeaten cameos in their innings.

Stubbs was on fire at the end of the innings, hitting two sixes and a four to help his team reach a huge total. The talk of the town is one of the sixes he hit in the 19th over of the match against Wiaan Mulder. Mulder pitched a delivery wide outside the off-stump in the slot, and Stubbs struck it perfectly. The ball sailed over the stadium after he slammed it in the long-on region.

Here is Tristan Stubss’ massive hit

As for the game, the Super Giants’ bowlers had no answers for Eastern Cape’s brilliance with the bat. Only Dwaine Pretorius took a wicket for them, with the other being a runout. As a result, the Sunrisers set a massive target of 211 runs for the Durban Super Giants.

The chase, however, was not the best for the team led by Quinton de Kock. Two wickets in the powerplay put them on the back foot as they could only manage 35 runs. After that, it was the complete Roelof van der Merwe show as he picked up six wickets in his spell.

He got rid of the entire middle order to guide his team to a win. He ended his spell with the figures of 4-0-20-6. In the end, the Durban Super Giants were dismissed for a score of 86/10, handing Eastern Cape a 124-run win. With this, they maintained the second spot in the points table.
