Travis Head stuns crowd with MS Dhoni-like shot against England in first ODI

Australia and England squared off against each other in the first match of the three-match ODI series on November 17, Thursday and it was pretty eventful for both teams. After winning the toss and electing to bowl first, the Australian pacers managed to restrict England to 287 at the end of the first innings.

While Dawid Malan, the star England batter, set the stadium on fire with his well-crafted 134, it was the Australian bowlers who stood up to the occasion and restricted England from reaching the 300-mark. In return, the Kangaroo openers David Warner and Travis Head got off to a flying start and went on to put a 100-run partnership for the first wicket.

While there were many moments from the chase to cherish, Head’s shot against Olly Stone in the fourth ball of the tenth over caught the eye of the fans, as he played a helicopter shot towards the offside, leaving the spectators in awe and puzzled to find the name of the unorthodox shot.

David Warner proves his prowess yet again

The left-handed batter stood up for his team yet again and reached the 50-run landmark off just 44 balls and looked in great touch. At the end of 26 overs, Australia were cruising at 188/1 with Warner unbeaten at 77 and Steve Smith at 33.

As things stand, Australia would hope to carry on with the form and clinch the upcoming 50-over World Cup to be held in India in 2023. As far as Three Lions are concerned, the team would look to carry the momentum from the recently concluded multinational tournament and will have their eyes set on the trophy next year.

It remains to see if the Kangaroos would change their approach post-Pat Cummins taking over as the captain and if they can clinch the 50-over World Cup trophy in the approaching year. With them bowing out of the showpiece event, Australia would look to make a strong comeback and regain their glory in limited-overs cricket.
