Sri Lanka beat Pakistan by 246 runs in the second Test

Pakistan’s tour of Sri Lanka 2022 ended with the visiting team losing the second Test by 246 runs. With this, the two-match series was levelled. The Babar Azam-led side had won the first Test by four wickets while chasing 342. After the second Test, players from both teams were seen having an interaction which is not unusual. However, what was unusual was the fans joining in.

In a video uploaded by Pakistan Cricket Board on Twitter, Azam gave an autograph to a Sri Lanka fan and Mohammad Rizwan hugged a Lankan fan. The video is going viral on social media as it has been viewed by 54000 people and counting. It also has gotten 5900 likes and counting.

Talking about the second Test, the world number six Test resumed the play with 89/1 on the board with Imam Ul Haq and Babar batting at the crease. They needed another 419 runs with 98 overs to play on the final day. Haq (49) was caught behind by Niroshan Dickwella off Ramesh Mendis after a few overs. At 97/2, Azam and Rizwan stitched a partnership of 79 runs and were looking like escaping with a draw to win the series.

However, the latter played the wrong line and paid with his wicket. After this, the team folded like a pack of cards. From 176/3, the team were all-out on 261 runs. The skipper of the team was the only shining star with the bat with 81 runs. Player of the Series, Prabhat Jayasuriya took another fifer while Mendis took four. With this win, the Lankan Lions have moved up to the third spot, leaving India behind. Dimuth Karunaratne’s men have 64 points to their name and have a win percentage of 53.33.

Talking about Pakistan, they have 56 points to their name and a win percentage of 51.85. Now, they need to win every game with five remaining in the ongoing World Test Championship 2021-23. These next two series will be played at their home against England and New Zealand.
