Sourav Ganguly and Virat Kohli have a history in the last few months. They were rumored to have a rift with each other. However, it seems that the BCCI president and former India skipper have put those issues to bed. In the Eliminator game between Bangalore and Lucknow on May 26, Ganguly enjoyed one of the strokes of the 33-year-old.

In the second over of the game, the former Bangalore skipper hit a flick shot against Dushmantha Chameera. The shot was hit between the mid-on and the midwicket fielder as the right-hander used his wrists at the last moment. While the official broadcasters played the replay of the shot, they also showed the reaction of Ganguly. The video is doing rounds on social media.

Talking about the game, the three-time finalist went on to beat the Indian T20 League debutants by 14 runs. Being asked to bat first by KL Rahul, the Faf du Plessis-led side amassed 207/4 with Rajat Patidar scoring the first century of his Indian T20 League career. Dinesh Karthik provided a strong finish with an unbeaten 37 off 23 balls.

In reply, the Mint Green Brigade could only score 193/6 despite Rahul scoring 79, Deepak Hooda scoring 45. With this win, the Red Army has qualified for Qualifier 2 clash against Rajasthan on May 27 in Ahmedabad. The team hasn’t played the final since 2016 when they lost to Hyderabad. They have qualified for the playoffs in 2020 and 2021 but lost the Eliminators games.

This year, they have taken a step closer to ever-elusive title which they could won if they had won the finals in 2009, 2010, and 2016. Once again, the team has the opportunity to break the jinx and finally lift the title. If they win Qualifier 2, they will play Gujarat in the final, who beat Rajasthan in Qualifier 1 game in Kolkata on May 24.

It will be interesting to see how the team fares in the Narendra Modi Stadium where the boundaries are larger than the ones in Maharashtra and Kolkata.
