Delhi handed Bangalore their fifth consecutive defeat of the Women’s T20 League 2023. With this win, they have established a strong position to qualify for the Playoffs of the inaugural edition. The Delhi team has so far just lost one game in the tournament.

In the match, the Delhi bowlers were at the top of their game as they restricted Bangalore batters to a low score. However, the wicket of Heather Knight was the most talked about. Shikha Pandey dismissed her with a brilliant catch off Tara Norris.

She’s pulled off a stunner and stunned herself in the process. Knight moved inside the line and sat down to play the sweep after Norris bowled a good-length ball angled across. Shikha dove to her left near short fine and hung on to a fantastic catch after the batter struck it well. A video of the same has been doing rounds on the internet.

Here is Shikha Pandey’s excellent catch

As for the match, Bangalore batted first and posted a challenging total of 150/4 thanks to Ellyse Perry’s half-century and Richa Ghosh’s brilliant innings. Shikha Pandey was Delhi’s best bowler, taking three wickets in four overs.

The target, however, was not unachievable for Delhi, and they chased it down with two balls to spare. Alice Capsey gave Delhi a good start, scoring 38 off 24 balls. Marizanne Kapp and Jess Jonassen, on the other hand, remained unbeaten and led their team to a crucial victory.

This victory was significant for Delhi because it moved them to second place in the table with four wins in five games. Bangalore, on the other hand, continued their dismal run in the tournament, having lost all five matches so far.

Overall, it was a fantastic game of cricket with all the hallmarks of a classic match. While Bangalore would be disappointed with yet another defeat, Delhi would be pleased with their performance and hope to continue their momentum in the tournament.
