WATCH: Shakib Al Hasan screams, charges at umpire over wide ball in Bangladesh Premier League game

The most famous cricket player from Bangladesh, Shakib Al Hasan, has recently been open in his criticism of the Bangladesh Premier League and other aspects of the game. If given the position of BPL CEO, he recently stated that it would take him “one or two months to correct everything.”
The Bangladesh Test captain is currently making headlines due to an unusual incident that happened during a BPL game. Shakib, batting for Fortune Barishal, became agitated when a high-bouncing ball was not ruled wide. It was deemed a valid delivery by the umpire, who counted it as one bouncer for the over.
Nearly as soon as the ball passed the square leg umpire, Shakib was seen yelling at the umpire. He then argued angrily with the umpire over the choice, coming dangerously close to charging at him. The 35-year-old then made his way over to the bowler’s end umpire and spoke with him briefly before making his way back to his crease.

It should be noted that Shakib famously lost it in the Dhaka Premier League back in 2021. The all-rounder was arguing with the umpires when he kicked stumps, uprooted them, and threw them to the ground. Shakib had expressed regret for his actions at the time.
“I am extremely sorry for losing my temper and ruining the match for everyone and especially those who are watching from home. An experienced player like me should not have reacted that way but sometimes against all odds it happens unfortunately,” Shakib tendered an official apology on his Facebook page.
Shakib had levelled harsh criticism at the cricket governing body of his nation for failing to promote the Bangladesh Premier League. “If they made me the BPL CEO, it would take me one or two months to correct everything. You have seen the movie, Nayak, right? If you want to do something, you can do it in one day,” Shakib told reporters.
