Watch: ‘School gaya bhaad mein’- A young fan’s response to KL Rahul leaves the latter in splits

Cricket fans in India are always ecstatic to see their favourite players in action. They constantly go to great lengths to catch a glimpse of their favourite player. KL Rahul, the captain of India for the three-match ODI series in Zimbabwe, had a personal encounter with a young fan the day before the series’ opening game in Harare.
On Wednesday, Indian cricketers were granting fan requests for selfies and autographs, as they had done throughout their ODI and T20I series in the Caribbean, when a young Indian fan approached KL Rahul. The young man, who appeared to be in his teens, first posed for pictures with Rahul and Ishan Kishan before telling them how much he admired the right-hander.
While walking back, Rahul asked him: “Kal match dekhne aaoge? (Will you come to watch the match tomorrow?” The boy nodded with a big smile and said: “Ayenge! School gaya bhaad mein (Of course! To hell with school).”
Rahul, however, was responsible enough to advise the teenager against pulling such a trick. To this, the boy replied, “School mein utna kuch important hai bhi nahi kal (There’s nothing much of importance to do at the school tomorrow).”
Journalist Vimal Kumar posted the full incident video to his YouTube channel.

Rahul, who is returning to the Indian team after a prolonged injury absence, said he has prepared well and is excited to take over as captain in Rohit Sharma’s absence. After being ruled out before the start of the T20I home series against South Africa in June, he was absent from the national team dressing room for a while.
“Injuries are part of sport and that part hasn’t been too kind to me, but it’s part of the journey, and you got to take the good and the bad. I have been out for two months, and just to get back to the dressing room and have that chat and laughter around the group, is great.”Never tried to be someone I am not,” Rahul said in the pre-match press conference.
