India captain Rohit Sharma won many hearts after a video of his heartwarming gesture toward a young fan who invaded the pitch went viral on social media. The Men in Blue defeated New Zealand by an innings and a wicket in the second One-Day International (ODI) in Raipur.

During the Indian batting innings, Rohit, who took the field in their 108-run chase, encountered an unusual moment when a young fan invaded the pitch to hug him. However, the Raipur stadium guards quickly noticed the fan running towards the skipper and rushed onto the field to stop the intruder.

Rohit was seen stopping the guards who nearly knocked down the fan during the match in a video that went viral on social media. The skipper also asked them to be gentle with the kid, who was later escorted into the stands by security.

The Men in Blue are currently riding high on the back of consecutive series wins in the 50-over format, having recently defeated Sri Lanka and clinched the ongoing series against the BlackCaps. India quickly took an unassailable lead in the series thanks to a sensational bowling performance by the Indian bowling unit, which made it easier for the batters to chase the total.

Furthermore, the victory over the Kiwis knocked the latter off the top spot in the Men’s ODI team rankings. The BlackCaps are now in second place with 113 rating points and 3166 overall points, while England has surpassed the former to take the top spot with 3,400 overall points.

Before shifting their focus to the T20I series, Rohit Sharma and his team will be looking to complete a series sweep against the visitors. New Zealand, on the other hand, will play for pride when they take the field on January 24 in Indore.
