Any tournament featuring India and Pakistan is exciting to watch, but the craze for a world cup encounter is out of this world. With both teams’ fans always passionate about it, it’s difficult for anyone, especially the players, to stop the rush of emotions. When the national anthem of India was played at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), India captain Rohit Sharma felt the same way.

As the anthem ended, Rohit appeared to become emotional. The Indian captain was seen holding back tears as the final verse of the anthem was sung by all of the Indian fans in attendance. The video of the same has gone viral over the internet.

Soon after the first ball was bowled, the emotional Rohit transformed into an aggressive captain. Arshdeep Singh, a left-arm pacer, dismissed Pakistan captain Babar Azam for a golden duck in the second over, giving the Indian captain and his team something to cheer about very quickly. Singh did not give Azam time to settle before bowling a full, swinging delivery that hit him on the pad. The on-field umpire ruled Babar out, but Pakistan’s captain gambled with a DRS, hoping for a reprieve. However, due to three reds on the DRS, Babar was forced to walk back to the pavilion.

After losing one more wicket, Shan Masood and Ifthikar Ahmed built an important partnership of 76 runs. The latter went on to complete his half-century in the match. However, after his wicket, the Men in Green kept losing regular intervals, which put them under strain. With three wickets, Hardik Pandya was the main wrecker in the middle overs.

Pakistan has lost seven wickets for a total of 125 runs in 17 overs at the time of writing this article. The Men in Green will look to end their innings on a high note to have some skin in the game. India, on the other hand, will look to continue their dominance.
