Watch: Robert Lewandowski gets a grand reception in his first game for Barcelona
Robert Lewandowski was signed in a deal worth £42.5m from Bayern Munich.
FC Barcelona finally acquired the services of the Polish striker Robert Lewandowski after months of negotiations. Having set his sight at the Catalan club, he was the prime mover behind this transfer. The Polish striker joined his teammates who were on a tour to the USA.
Lewandowski has hit the ground running at the Spanish club with a video of his first few days at the new club getting viral. Being one of the best in his position, the 33-year-old has been incredibly popular all over the world. The insanity of his fame could be drawn from the fact that Barcelona cannot keep pace with the demand for Lewandowski’s jersey and Barca stores are running out of his jersey ever since his arrival.
His popularity can be seen in a new video posted by the official Twitter handle of the club. The video was taken after the friendly match between Real Madrid and Barcelona in Las Vegas. Fans could be seen chanting Lewandowski’s name as he walks off the pitch after the game. Barcelona supporters could be seen hanging from their seats just to shake hands with the 33-year-old strikers. The number 12 raises and claps his hands in form of a respectful gesture and walks off into the tunnel after shaking hands with some fans.

Talking of the game, despite being friendly, it had the same intensity as an El Classico. Barcelona won the match with a Rafinha strike in the 27th minute. Barcelona looking for a new identity under club legend Xavi are playing a different kind of football where they remain calm and open spaces in the opposition team by drawing players.
Robert Lewandowski seems to have fit right into the team as it was visible from his first match in a Barcelona shirt. The striker was asking for balls to be played into him and dropped deep to help his teammates as well. With Lewandowski, Barcelona look like a proper challenger for the La Liga trophy and could also do well in the Champions League this year.
