Watch- Pakistan’s Shan Masood taken to hospital after getting hit on the head, Mohammad Nawaz looks distraught

Injuries continue to mar India vs Pakistan match at the 20-20 World Cup.

Shan Masood

Pakistan cricket fans woke up to bad news from their team in Australia on Friday. In a major blow to Men in Green’s 20-20 World Cup campaign, Shan Masood, their number three batter has been hit on the head and has been moved to a nearby hospital.

According to reports coming on social media, another Pakistan batter Mohammad Nawaz hit a shot and the ball ended up smacking Masood’s head on the right side.

Here’s the video of Shan Masood from after getting hit.

The first update was posted by Indian journalist Boria Majumdar who wrote on his Twitter handle, “Update Pakistani batter Shan Masood has been taken to hospital. Doctors will examine him and then further steps will be taken.

Mohd. Nawaz’s shot hit Masood on the head for this unfortunate injury. He was lying down on the ground for 5-7 minutes. Wish him a speedy recovery.”

Soon other videos started to emerge from Pakistan’s training session in which the player could be seen lying on the ground. He was however later able to walk on his own.

In another video, Mohammad Nawaz, whose shot hit Masood, was seen distraught at the other end.

Although, the player walking on his own is a great sign that things will be back to normal for him. If however, scans show any internal injuries, then Masood will have to be further treated which would mean giving World Cup a miss. In that case, the reserve player Fakhar Zaman could be promoted to the first team. Shoaib Malik who was not included in the squad for the 20-20 World Cup could also be called upon to fill the spot left by Shan Masood.

Pakistan will begin their 20-20 World Cup campaign with a match against arch-rivals India on October 23rd. That match however is in danger of being washed out as incessant rain could play a spoilsport for the highly awaited game.
