T20 World Cup 2024
Watch Out- ‘Tenu jutiyaan maarne aa rha hun’ Angry Pak fan’s video of threatening Babar Azam goes viral
Has cricket fandom gone too far?
Pakistan’s back-to-back defeat at the 20-20 World Cup has thrown their campaign in disarray. While the first loss was against a strong India team, the second against minnows Zimbabwe has irked most cricket fans.
In a video that is going viral on social media, a Pakistan cricket fan appears to threaten Pakistan captain Babar Azam and says that he would be visiting his hotel room to beat him up. The 8-second video appears to be shot outside of the Perth stadium after Pakistan vs Zimbabwe match.
“Babar Azam main tere hotel aariyan hai, jutiyan maran, mainu tere room da number pata lag gya hai. Phauch tu hotel” (Babar Azam, I am coming to your hotel to beat you up. I know your room number) the fan was seen yelling in Punjabi.
Here’s the video of a Pakistan fan threatening Babar Azam:

The video has been watched thousands of times on Twitter and has many responses applauding the fan for his views as well. There were others however who are of a different opinion and think that threatening the Pakistan captain was wrong.
The criticism of Pakistan players have come after their lacklustre display against Zimbabwe in the 20-20 World Cup. They started off the match poorly but came back right into the game after taking 4 wickets in 6 balls. Zimbabwe were restricted to a small score of 130 in 20 overs. All thought that it would be a walk in the park for the Pakistan team who recently reached the Asia Cup 2022 final and came off a tri-series win against New Zealand and Bangladesh.
It however didn’t turn out as expected and Pakistan collapsed while chasing. The Men in Green failed to chase down what was a small target at Perth. In the end, Pakistan lost by 1 run and what followed was a meltdown from fans as well as former Pakistan cricketers.
As a result of their loss, Pakistan now sit at fifth in Group 2 and have a very difficult road ahead of them. They will have to win all of their remaining games and hope that other results are in their favour as well.
