Watch: MS Dhoni hits a one-handed gigantic six in the practice session
Chennai skipper MS Dhoni doesn’t want to leave any stone unturned before the start of the Indian T20 League. With less than three weeks left in the start, the team is practicing in Surat. The schedule of the cash-rich league was announced last weekend and it will kick off with an encounter between Chennai and Kolkata. Both teams were finalists last year and the former won by 27 runs.
It was reported that the team’s decision to practice specifically in Surat was influenced by Dhoni. It is believed that the pitches in Maharashtra, where the ITL will be played, and in Surat are made of the same soil which will help the team prepare better. On March 7, the team arrived in the city and was given a warm welcome. Meanwhile, during the nets, Dhoni was seen hitting a one-handed six just Rishabh Pant does.

On the other hand, the former Indian skipper, few day after winning the ITL last year, had announced this season might be his last as a player. The Ranchi-born player has already retired from international cricket in August 2020. Since then, he has played two seasons in the cash-rich league and didn’t have any success with the bat. In this period, the right-hander could only muster 314 runs in 30 games striking below 120.
Worst part was when the team didn’t even qualify for the playoffs in 2020. However, the four-time winners bounced back to win the tournament in 2021.
