After becoming the world champions post winning the 20-20 World Cup 2022, England faced off Australia in the first match of the three-match ODI series on November 17, Thursday and the Kangaroos looked in the fine nick on the day, making a statement with the ball right from the start. After winning the toss and electing to bowl first, the Australian pacers were brimming with fire, against the mighty Three Lions’ batting attack.

With Jason Roy making a comeback, Mithcell Starc, the Australian fiery pace bowler, reduced his stay in the crease as he baffled him off with an inswinging good length delivery. The video was eventually shared by the Australian cricket team’s social media team on their Twitter account and it was a treat to the eye as fans witnessed their prime bowler in the best of his forms.

Dawid Malan fights back for England

With wickets falling at the other end, it was the star batter Dawid Malan who rose up to the occasion and produced a fight for England with the bat. To add more to the innings, while the likes of Philip Salt, James Vince, and skipper Jos Buttler perished in quick succession, the southpaw remained at the other end rock solid and eventually went to reach the fifty-run landmark.

Salt, who was a part of the England squad in the recently concluded multinational tournament, perished for 14 runs, while captain Buttler made his way back to the pavilion after gathering 29 runs to his name. Vince, who came in at Number 4, could only stay in the crease for a short time and returned to the dressing room after contributing 5 runs to England’s scoreboard.

At the end of 30 overs, England remained at 157/5 with Malan and Liam Dawson in the crease. The southpaw remained unbeaten at 70 and looked on course to make it a big inning. The Kangaroos looked like favourites to win the match even with Malan at the other end trying hard to make it big for England.
