India vs South Africa 2023-2024

Watch: Massive fight among Indian fans in first T20I vs South Africa

Almost after three years, the fans were back at the Arun Jaitley Stadium stadium to witness India playing an international game on Thursday. The Men in Blue took on South Africa in the first of the five-match T20 series on Thursday. The fans had a great time as they got to see huge sixes being hit on numerous occasions.

It was a high-scoring game as both teams scored 200-plus scores in their respective innings. However, fans would have been happier had India gone on to win the game. India batted exceedingly well in the first innings as they scored a mammoth score of 211 runs on the board.

South Africa, however, chased down the score pretty comfortably in 19.1 overs. Meanwhile, amidst the first game, a massive brawl took place in one of the stands among fans. The fans exchanged punches and kicks, following an argument. It took place for some time before Police personnel intervened and stopped the fight.

The video of the incident has been going viral on social media, however, the reason behind the brawl is still unknown.

Talking about the game, Ishan Kishan starred with the bat, scoring a sensational knock of 76 runs in 48 balls, and the likes of Gaikwad, Pant, Iyer, and Hardik Pandya also made notable contributions.

However, the bowling unit didn’t have a great outing on the field. Their biggest bet for the India in the bowling department,  Yuzvendra Chahal went for 26 runs in 2.1 overs, while the likes of Harshal Patel (1 for 43) and Bhuvneshwar Kumar (1 for 43) also proved expensive. With the likes of Umran Malik, and Arshdeep Singh waiting for opportunities, the management could make a change or two in the bowling department. However, chances of that happening are less likely.

The second T20 international is slated to be played at Barabati Stadium in Cuttack on Sunday.
