Watch: Marnus Labuschagne’s nap cut short as David Warner gets out in WTC final 2023

Australia got a healthy lead in the first innings of the ongoing WTC final 2023 against India. After getting to 469 all-out in the first innings, the Aussies reduced the 2021 finalists to 296, taking a lead of 173 runs. With a heavy lead under their belt, some players are bound to have a relaxed mood in the Australia dressing room. However, with Marnus Labuschagne slotted to bat at number three was supposed to be attentive.

Despite this, after getting padded and strapped up, the right-hander was caught on camera taking a nap before David Warner’s wicket. Some might say that the former was confident of Warner and Usman Khawaja batting long enough. However, as it turned out, Siraj took out Warner in the fourth over of Australia’s second innings. This resulted in Labuschagne’s nap getting cut short.

India stages a comeback in the summit clash

Meanwhile, the Asian side was struggling with the bat, trailing by 469 runs after the end of Australia’s first innings. In reply, the Rohit Sharma-led side was struggling at 152/6, staring down a follow-on scare. However, the likes of Ajinkya Rahane (89) and Shardul Thakur (51) helped the team reach 296 runs, trailing by 178 runs after the first innings.

Ravindra Jadeja (48) played a counter-attacking innings on Day Two but lost his wicket late in the day. At the time of writing, the Aussies have reached 45/2, led by 218 runs.
