Kieron Pollard, apart from his exploits with the bat, is known for his acrobatic fielding efforts. He has made numerous outstanding catches for his national team West Indies and his Indian T20 League team Mumbai over the years. He was at it once again while playing for the MI Emirates in the International League T20 2023 (ILT20 2023).

Pollard hit another blazing half-century, his second of the tournament, but fell short after Alex Hales and Sherfane Rutherford combined to power the Desert Vipers to a seven-wicket win on Tuesday. Not only did Pollard perform with the bat, but he also got the prized scalp of Colin Munro, who looked dangerous with his 22-ball 41.

Munro hit a full toss ball from Samit Patel to long-on, where Pollard was stationed, on the second ball of the eighth over of the Desert Vipers’ innings. The MI Emirates captain perfectly timed his jump to grab the one-handed stunner.

Kieron Pollard was a key player for Mumbai in the Indian T20 League in addition to being an important member of the West Indies cricket team. He retired from international cricket in April of last year, and from the Indian T20 League seven months later, in November 2022.

As for the game, the Emirates team managed to score 169-5 in their alloted 20 overs. West Indies duo of Kieron Pollard (67 runs in 39 balls) and Nicholas Pooran (57 runs in 49 balls) were the stars of the innings. For the Vipers, Tom Curran was the pick of the bowlers with his two wickets in the game.

On the other hand, the chase was not too dificcult for the Desert Vipers at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi. Despite losing an early wicket, they did well to bounce back. Alex Hales (62 runs in 44 balls) and Munro stitched an important second-wicket partnership.

in the end, Sherfane Rutherford played the perfect knock of 56 runs in 29 balls to take his team through. The Vipers chased down the target in under 17 overs with seven wickets to spare.
