The action-packed cricket in the 20-20 World Cup continued on Tuesday as Sri Lanka and UAE faced off each other in Match 6 of the tournament. Sri Lanka were put into bat first and scored 152 at the end of their 20 overs. U.A.E faltered in their chase losing wickets at regular intervals. However, Junaid Siddique made a name for himself by smashing the longest six of the 20-20 World Cup so far.

The incident took place on the second ball of the 17th over bowled by Dushmantha Chameera, who bowled a good length delivery on the leg stump. Siddique used all his might and gave the delivery a wild hoick as it went soaring in the night sky and over the roof of the stadium.

The ball went out of the stadium for a whopping 109-metre-six. The commentators were in awe of the mighty hit and the batter, right after the hit, was seen flaunting his biceps.

Coming back to the match, Sri Lanka were cruising in their innings at 117/2 after 14.3 overs and were looking for a good finish to their innings. However, all their hopes were shattered as Karthik Meiyappan picked a hat trick and put breaks to Sri Lanka’s smooth-flowing innings. The Lankan lions lost wickets in quick succession and ended with the score of 152/8 after 20 overs. Meiyappan etched his name in the history books becoming only the fifth bowler to pick a hat trick in the 20-20 World Cup.

U.A.E had a massive opportunity to cause another upset in the 20-20 World Cup however, their batting failed against Sri Lankan bowling. After playing a couple of good overs first up, they suffered a dramatic collapse and went from 15/0 to 56/9 after 15 overs.

Junaid Siddique’s cameo at the end of 18 off 16 balls took them to the score of 73 as they got all out after 17.1 overs. Dushmantha Chameera and Wanindu Hasaranga were the chief destroyer of UAE picking up three wickets each. Pathum Nissanka was awarded ‘Player of the Match’ for his knock of 74 off 60 balls.
