WATCH: Indian Air Force performs air show at Narendra Modi Stadium in ODI World Cup final
The ODI World Cup final is currently underway at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, with a sea of fans dressed in blue filling the world’s largest cricket stadium to its brim. The euphoric crowd witnessed a historic event as the Indian Air Force’s Surya Kiran Aerobatic Team put up a spectacular air show before the match.
The Surya Kiran team, part of the 52nd Squadron of the Indian Air Force, produced a 10-minute show before the toss. Nine Hawk Mk-132 SKAT aircraft took to the skies, marking the first time an aerial show was displayed ahead of any cricket match in India. It was only fitting that their maiden show took place before a World Cup final.
The ‘ambassador of the Indian Air Force’, the SKAT team, usually composed of 13 pilots, had only nine of them performing at any given time in their Hawk advanced trainer jets. The Narendra Modi Stadium, which has a capacity of more than 1,30,000, was the perfect backdrop for this historic event.

As the air show concluded, the focus shifted to the much-anticipated World Cup final. Rohit Sharma’s Team India is all set to clash with Pat Cummins’ Team Australia. With hopes riding high on the Men in Blue across the country, the stage is set for an epic showdown.
As the toss unfolded and Pat Cummins won, choosing to bowl first, the excitement only intensified. Rohit Sharma, leading from the front, dismantled the Australian bowling attack with his aggressive style of play. However, the Aussies fought back, claiming key wickets, including Shubman Gill and the prolific duo of Rohit Sharma and Shreyas Iyer.
The unfolding drama on the field left fans on the edge of their seats, eagerly anticipating the twists and turns as the match progressed. The combination of thrilling cricket and the spectacular pre-match air show set the stage for a World Cup final to be remembered for years to come.
