The India U-19 Women’s team made the entire nation proud as they won the inaugural edition of the 20-20 World Cup. The budding cricketers, under the leadership of experienced Shafali Verma, beat England in the final played in Potchefstroom on the 29th of January (Sunday).

After their historic win, all the players were seen dancing to the beats of the famous Bollywood song ‘Kala Chashma’ from the movie ‘Baar Baar Dekho’. The trend to dance to this song after a series or a tournament win has been on for a long time now.

The young Indian cricketers did a bit of break dance and also performed the hook step of the song. A video of the same has been doing rounds on the internet.

India had England on the back foot from the start of the final, thanks to a superb bowling performance and an impressive fielding display. India chased down the target with seven wickets and six overs to spare after dismissing England for 68 runs, sparking wild celebrations in the camp.

Titas Sadhu set the pace, and the spinners delivered another brilliant performance when it counted. The pacer was named player of the match after a spell of four overs, six runs, and two wickets.

In the meantime, Indian Men’s Senior team sent some messages to the emerging players of the country. The men’s team was seen lavishing praise on the young cricketers in a video posted by the Indian Cricket Board.

Rahul Dravid, team head coach, extended his best wishes to the team, saying, “Today was the landmark day for India under-19 Women’s cricket team and they had a fantastic day”. The microphone was then passed to Prithvi Shaw, captain of the men’s under-19 World Cup-winning team.

Shaw, who led India’s Under-19 team to victory in New Zealand in 2018, said, “I think, it’s a great achievement. Everyone wants to congratulate the under-19 Women’s team. So Congratulations!”
