Harleen Deol has been outstanding for the Gujarat team in the Women’s T20 League 2023. She has not only shone with the bat, but she has also demonstrated her ability as a fielder. Deol inflicted a run-out against Mumbai with a sensational direct-hit throw from deep, and she dismissed MI captain Harmanpreet Kaur with a diving catch just one over later.

Sneh Rana’s Gujarat team faced the Mumbai team on Tuesday at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai, looking to move up the points table with only their second victory. Rana won the toss and chose to bowl first. Harmanpreet’s team has yet to lose a game in the tournament, despite a sluggish start after losing Hayley Matthews early on.

On the other end, wickets continued to fall, and Harleen produced one of the match’s most memorable moments in the 19th over of Mumbai’s innings. Harmanpreet attempted to steal two runs, while Humaira Kazi ran towards the bowler’s end. Harleen, who was stationed at the long-on boundary, ran towards the ball, picked it up, and flung it to the non-striker’s end.

Kazi was caught short of the crease when Deol smacked the stumps. She wasn’t done though as six balls later, she completed a sublime catch to remove Kaur. A video of the runout has been doing rounds on the internet ever since.

As for the match, Mumbai won their fifth game in a row and booked a spot in the Playoffs. Thanks to a brilliant knock of 51 runs in just 30 balls from the team skipper, they were able to get to a total of 162/8. In the chase, Gujarat never seemed alive in the game and kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Eventually, they were restricted to 107/9 in their 20 overs, handing Mumbai a 55-run win. With the ball, Nat Sciver-Brunt and Haley Matthews took three wickets each, while Amelia Kerr and Issy Wong took two and one, respectively.
