Afghanistan is currently taking on Sri Lanka in a virtual knockout game of the 20-20 World Cup 2022. Both teams will look for a win in this match to stay alive in the competition to reach the semi-finals. In the encounter, Afghanistan won the toss and decided to bat first.

The first innings saw a handful of wickets fall for the team led by Mohammad Nabi. However, the wicket that has gained the most attention is that of Gulbadin Naib in the 18th over of the game. Rashid Khan took a quick run after tapping the ball. After finishing the first run, Naib attempted a second, but Rashid sent him back.

He slipped as he turned to return to the crease, and the bat fell out of his hands. He crawled and rolled across the pitch, but he couldn’t get back. As a result, he lost his wicket in a bizarre manner. The video of the same has been doing rounds on the internet.

Here is Gulbadin Naib’s wicket

As for the game, in their allotted 20 overs, Afghanistan scored 144 runs and lost eight wickets. The Afghan batters could not do much in the first innings as Rahmanullah Gurbaz, with 28 runs in 24 balls, was the highest scorer of the game. The batting department would have hoped to do better and for at least one of their batters to take charge of the game.

For Sri Lanka, Wanindu Hasaranga, with his four-wicket haul, was the pick of the bowlers. Lahiru Kumara also took two wickets in the game, while Kasun Rajitha and Dhananjaya de Silva took one each.

The Lankan team lost an early wicket in the chase, but they kept the runs coming. Sri Lanka is 63/2 after 10 overs at the time of writing, with Dhananjaya de Silva and Charith Asalanka in the middle. Both teams would want to get a win and two points under their belt in this match.
