Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir have had their fair share of fights over the years.

In a video circulating on social media, Gautam Gambhir gave an intriguing remark in response to a question about Virat Kohli. In response to a query on Kohli’s 50th ODI century, Gambhir teasingly stated that his altercation with the former captain was limited to the pitch.

Over the years, Gambhir and Kohli participated often in on-field sparring. During an IPL 2023 encounter between the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), the two got into a verbal altercation once more. Then, Gambhir served as LSG’s mentor.

A pretty cute assessment about Gambhir’s chemistry with Kohli may be observed in a new viral video. The former cricket player was questioned in a Star Sports video about which bowler Kohli hit his historic 50th ODI century during the ODI World Cup 2023 game versus New Zealand.

Gambhir answered by saying, “Lockie Ferguson. Ye aap baar baar dikhana, mujhe sab kuch yaad rehta hai. Ladai meri sirf on the field hai (Please show this clip again and again, I remember everything. My fight is only on the field).”

During the ODI World Cup semi-final, Kohli notched up his 50th ODI century. The Men in Blue amassed 397/4 thanks to Kohli’s 117 off 113 balls. Team India then later held the Kiwis to 327 to guarantee their spot into the final. The dominant Indian batsman also contributed with a half-century during the final match against Australia. But unfortunately the hosts lost the match in Ahmedabad by six wickets.

“I want Virat Kohli to bat with the same intent” : Gautam Gambhir

Gambhir was questioned about how he believes Kohli would bat in the forthcoming Test series. The 35-year-old needs to engage with the exact same intent for which he is renowned, he retorted.

The Kolkata Knight Riders mentor said on Star Sports, “It will be in Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma’s minds that Shreyas Iyer, who is on his first tour, will be batting after Virat Kohli, and KL Rahul, if he plays, will be playing as a wicketkeeper for the first time. However, I want Virat Kohli to bat with the same intent he is known for.”
