In the Eliminator game of Legends League Cricket (LLC 2023), Gautam Gambhir led India Capitals to beat Gujarat Giants by 12 runs to qualify for the second semi-finals. In a high-scoring game, Gambhir’s half-century helped the Capitals post a massive total of 223/7 in 20 overs. In response, Chris Gayle‘s half-century failed to propel the Giants to victory.

Apart from his batting, Gambhir also made headlines for his heated argument with S. Sreesanth. During the game, both players argued with each other while umpires and other players tried to keep things simple. In the second over of the game, Gambhir showcased his skill by dispatching consecutive deliveries from Sreesanth for a six and a four.

Here is the video:

In response, Sreesanth delivered a wide ball, prompting Gambhir to direct it straight to a fielder at short cover. Known for his spirited demeanour, Sreesanth engaged in a verbal exchange, attempting to unsettle Gambhir and disrupt the retired opener’s focus. Gambhir, experienced in such on-field confrontations throughout his illustrious playing career, momentarily appeared puzzled but quickly regained his composure, seamlessly continuing with his batting.

“He fights with everyone,” S. Sreesanth alleges Gautam Gambhir

However, after the game, Sreesanth released a video explaining the incident. He said that he didn’t instigate Gambhir, while later was constantly saying him things. He also said that Gambhir loves to fight with his colleagues. “I just wanted to clear some air on what happened with Mr Fighter, who always fights with all his colleagues for no reason whatsoever,” says Sreesanth.

“He doesn’t even respect his senior players, including Viru Bhai and a lot of other people. That’s exactly what happened today. Without any provocation, he just kept on calling me, something that is very rude and something that should not have been said by Mr Gautam Gambhir.”

Watch Shreesanth explain the issue:

“So, I just want to tell you all that I am not at all at fault. I just wanted to clear the air right away. Sooner or later, you’ll get to know what Gauti has done. The words he used and the things he said on a cricket field live are not acceptable,” he concluded.
