WATCH: Former Mumbai Indians pacer Jofra Archer grinds it out in domestic cricket as he prepares for epic comeback for England
Jofra Archer will also not be competing in the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League 2024.
Jofra Archer, the England speedster, made a modest step towards his comeback to the professional ranks by playing as part of the Sussex XI in s second tier of County Cricket. The Barbadian delivered a brilliant in-swinger that the right-handed batter found difficult to handle in the social media video.
The video was shared by the County Championship’s official account on X, showing Archer hitting the right-hander with an unplayable in-swinger. The batter made an attempt to move his leg out of the way. But when the right-arm paceman protested, the ball struck the pads and the umpire gave him out.
Archer has missed the most of action since 2020 and hasn’t played for England after March 2023. Archer’s ascent to prominence began at age 24, when he was instrumental in England’s World Cup win. With 20 wickets over 11 games with an average of 23.05.5, he concluded the competition.

“He wanted to play in the IPL” : Robert Key on Jofra Archer’s return
Robert Key, the executive director of England men’s cricket, stated in an interview with the Tailenders podcast in January of this year that the team hopes to face Jofra Archer during the T20 World Cup 2024. He has been designated by the former middle-order hitter to be a key player in the occasion.
Robert Key said, “Our plan is the T20 World Cup, building him up slowly. I saw him bowl in the Caribbean and it was like he’d never been away. I don’t want to get back to this thing where he plays and then goes down again. He wanted to play in the IPL, but we said not this time. Hopefully the years he has missed he can add to the end of his career. He is such a talent.”
After defeating Pakistan in the 2022 edition, England are currently the reigning champions. The upcoming 2024 T20 World Cup is going to be held in the USA and the West Indies, starting on June 1.
