After rain stopped the game on Sunday, the match restarted on Monday with a brief delay. Indian batters Virat Kohli and KL Rahul didn’t let Pakistan bowlers come over. They toyed with them all around the park and added an unbeaten 233 runs for the third wicket. Kohli, in his innings, scored an unbeaten 122 runs off 94 balls with the help of nine fours and three sixes. Meanwhile, Rahul, in his comeback innings, scored 111 runs off 106 balls with the help of 12 fours and two sixes.
Pakistan failed to play against Kuldeep Yadav
Chasing a massive total, Pakistan failed to hold its nerve. In-form batter Imam-Ul-Haq was dismissed by Jasprit Bumrah in the fifth over for just 17 runs. It opened the floodgates for Pakistan. Allrounder Hardik Pandya dismissed Pakistan skipper Babar Azam to close the case. Babar, in his innings, scored 10 runs off 24 balls. Other batters like Fakhar Zaman, Agha Salman, and Iftikhar Ahmed tried to rescue Pakistan but failed against Kuldeep.
Kuldeep clinched five wickets for just 25 runs in eight overs. He dismissed Fakhar, Agha, Iftikhar, Shadab Khan, and Faheem Ashraf. Despite their efforts, Pakistan fell way short of the target and lost the game. It’s worth noting that, in another shocking development, two mainstay Pakistan pacers, Haris Rauf and Naseem Shah, didn’t come to bat due to injuries. They might not play against Sri Lanka in the upcoming game.
