East Bengal fan faces brutal attack from home fans amid victory vs Bengaluru FC

Bengaluru FC hosted East Bengal in Sri Kanteerava Stadium on November 11, Friday in the ongoing Indian Super League (ISL)which the home lost eventually with a scoreline of 0-1, pushing them to 9th place in the points table. The Brazilian forward Cleiton Silva remained the sole goal scorer of the match when he produced the lead for the Red and Gold Brigade in the 69th minute.

However, with the emotions pouring high from the home fans, there were a few that caused a ruckus in the stadium and showed no class to those who genuinely wanted a tough fight between the two heavyweights. A video is now surfacing on the internet where an East Bengal fan can be seen facing a brutal attack from a couple of Bengaluru FC fans, making the great spectacle an unsettling experience for those in the North Upper pavilion.

Is security lapse a concern for away fans in Bengaluru stadium?

Baffled by the same, a Twitter user pointed out the security lapse in the stadium and said that it must be addressed at the earliest by the higher authorities. Further, the user called for more security for the away fans and to prohibit those intoxicated from entering the stadium. “I seriously hope @ParthJindal11 takes a look at this and improves the hospitality at Kanteerava. The fans definitely DO NOT DESERVE THIS! Few of them were drunk, so I am not sure how they were allowed in the first place. Need tight security. @IndSuperLeague @bengalurufc,” the user wrote.

Here is the video:

As things stand, Simon Grayson, the head coach of the Blues, said that his team would look to stay positive and rebuild for the next game against Mumbai City on November 17. Further, 52-year-old claimed that his men have all it takes to go and win against Des Buckingham’s boys.

“We have got to stick together. We just mentioned in the dressing room that nobody else is going to stop this run of form other than us. Me, the staff, and the players got to stick together, we got to take the positives out of what was a decent performance. Learn from the experience of the last 15-20 minutes when we conceded, and we go again. Why can’t we go to Mumbai and win?” Grayson said after the clash against East Bengal in the press conference.
