Watch: David Warner involved in a heated argument with umpire

David Warner

David Warner was involved in a heated argument with the on-field umpire on day four (March 24) of Pakistan vs Australia third Test. The incident happened during the 21st over of the Aussie innings. Warner stepped down the wicket to play against Hasan Ali, with the scorecard reading 72/0. At that time, Umpire Hasan stepped in and warned the batter that he was running in the danger zone.

According to the rules of the game, a batter, bowler, or any other fielder cannot step or run on the centre of the pitch. That area of the wicket is protected under the laws of the game so that a team doesn’t get an unfair advantage due to a damaged surface.

Meanwhile, the left-hander wasn’t happy with the umpire. “You want me to play my shot like this…” Warner was heard saying on stump mic as he gestured towards the side of the wicket. Umpire Ahsan Raza replied: “Yes, you have to move.”

“Show me in the rule book where that’s what I’ve got to do. I won’t start until you show me,” Warner was then heard saying. The incident halted the game for a while with Pakistan players coming towards the pitch.
