Manchester United got head-to-head against their arch-rivals Liverpool on Monday for the third game of their Premier League season this year. United were desperate to correct their blunders from the first two matches which resulted in back-to-back defeats. All the strategies and plans fell into the right place as Manchester United managed to register their first victory of the season by defeating Liverpool by 2-1.

The megastar of the club Cristiano Ronaldo did not start the match for the home side. He warmed the bench along with Harry Maguire. Despite not starting in the match, Ronaldo shared a light moment with former Liverpool player Jamie Carragher before the game. The video of the incident went viral quickly with CR7’s antics being loved by the people on social media.

In the video, United legends Gary Neville and Roy Keane were seen doing the pre-match analysis along with Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher for Sky Sports. Their conversation was suddenly interrupted by Cristiano Ronaldo who made a surprise entry as the host Dave Jones stated, “The main man is here tonight!”

The 37-year-old hugged and greeted both the former United teammates while he completely avoided Carragher’s attempt at a handshake. After Ronaldo walked away from the expert panel, Carragher said: “Totally blanked me!”

Here’s the video of the incident:

Coming back to the match, Manchester United players got off to an emphatic start against Liverpool. In the 16th minute of the game, Jadon Sancho opened the account for his side. Liverpool tried hard to level to score in the first half but didn’t get any success as the first half ended at 1-0.

In the second half, the home side further stamped their authority as they netted once again and made it 2-0, courtesy of a brilliant goal by Marcus Rashford. The visitors couldn’t convert any of the chances and looked hopeless in front of the United Defenders. The trio of Varane, Malacia, Dalot, and Martinez looked in tremendous nick throughout the game.

Mo Salah managed to score a goal out of nowhere during a corner to give his team some hope of making a comeback into the match. The United players held their nerves until the final whistle was blown and registered their first win of this season. They will now be seen in action against Southampton on 27 August 2022 at the St. Mary Stadium.
