Premier League giants Manchester United registered their first win of the ongoing UEFA Europa League campaign against Moldovan club Sheriff Tiraspol on Thursday. Manchester United defeated Tiraspol 2-0 in an away game as Cristiano Ronaldo and Jadon Sancho both netted the ball in the first half.

During the half-time break, a tired Ronaldo refused to take a picture with a fan while moving to the dugout. Ronaldo scored his first goal of the season to end a run of seven games without scoring a goal. The five-time Ballon d’Or winner has endured a tough start under Erik ten Hag, starting United’s last four Premier League fixtures from the bench.

During the match, Ronaldo was approached by a supporter, who appeared to ask for a photo as he made his way down the tunnel at half-time. The Portugal skipper waved his arm in the fan’s direction to let them know it wasn’t the time or place for a selfie.

Ronaldo was well within his rights to decline the photo as footballers do not usually interact with fans during games. The veteran forward could’ve been accused of being disrespectful to United’s opponents Sheriff if he agreed to a photo at that time.

Coming back to the match, after losing to Spanish club Real Sociedad last week at the Old Trafford, the Red Devils were all over the Moldovan club last night. Jadon Sancho scored an incredible goal to give the English club a 17′ lead followed by Cristiano Ronaldo’s promising spot kick, which was won by his compatriot Diogo Dalot.

Strikes from Sancho and Ronaldo gave a breath of relief to the Man United boss Erik ten Hag after the dominating first half.

With the win, Manchester United are currently at the third place in Group E with three points in two games while Real Sociedad maintain their top spot with two wins in two games. Tiraspol are at the second place, having scored a goal more than United.

Ronaldo is being criticized by fans on social media for his dismissive attitude towards the supporter, as many believe the gesture he made with his arm was impolite.
