WATCH: ‘Concerned about a milestone’ – former New Zealand skipper slams Virat Kohli for slow strike rate
after this victory against Royal Challengers Bangalore, LSG is now the new table toppers in the league
In the 15th match of the Indian Premier League 2023, Lucknow Super Giants beat Royal Challengers Bangalore in a thrilling encounter by 1 wicket. However, despite being on the losing side, RCB fans were treated by a magnificent batting performance from Virat Kohli. Former India skipper Kohli hammered a magnificent half-century while batting first against the visitors.
While batting first, Kohli looked in ominous touch as he scored 42 runs off the first 25 balls he faced. He was looking amazing with the bat but things went slow as field restrictions were revoked after Powerplay. The introduction of spin also dented Kohli’s strike rate as he scored 19 runs off the next 19 balls. Kohli eventually ended his innings with 61 runs off 44 balls. Speaking about his innings, former New Zealand skipper Simon Doull slammed the Indian batter.
While broadcasting the game, Doull slammed Kohli and said that the batter was concerned about his milestones. He said, “Virat Kohli started like a train, he was going hammer and tongs, playing a lot of shots. From 42 to 50, he took 10 balls. Concerned about a milestone. I don’t think there’s room for that in this game anymore. You’ve just got to keep going especially with wickets in hand at that stage. You’ve got to keep going.”
?? "Virat Kohli took 10 balls from 40 to 50. He was more concerned about his personal milestone".

Doull has slammed Babar Azam for the same reason
In the recently concluded Pakistan Super League, Pakistan skipper Babar Azam hammered his first century of the league. He scored magnificently while batting against Multan Sultans. However, Doull had made a similar remark about Babar Azam’s PSL scoring rate, implying that Babar had slowed down in pursuit of his first PSL ton. Doull had questioned whether Babar was prioritizing the team or just going for his century.
Meanwhile, after this victory against Royal Challengers Bangalore, LSG is now the new table toppers in the league. With three wins in four games, LSG has six points and they are sitting at the top. On the other hand, this is RCB’s second consecutive defeat in the season as earlier they were thrashed by KKR at Eden Gardens.
