Cameron Bancroft of the Perth Scorchers pulled off another incredible catch as the Adelaide Strikers’ top order capitulated in their BBL encounter. The Scorchers had three Power Play wickets before the flying catch from their star fielder. Bancroft topped it off with a screamer to eliminate dangerman Alex Carey.

After failing to score, Carey was dismissed by Peter Hatzoglou, who pushed the ball across the left-hander. He appeared to have found a gap on the mid-wicket boundary after timing his sweep shot well. Bancroft, on the other hand, had other plans. He made good ground with his legs before perfectly timing his dive. The catch put the reigning champions well ahead after they got off to a flying start despite being asked to bowl.

Here is Cameron Bancroft’s flying catch

David Payne, who returned to the team after Jason Behrendorff was rested, was on point from the first over. After advancing down the pitch, striker Matt Short lost his wicket in the first over. The English left-armer swung the ball beautifully back through the gap to send the opener back into the sheds without scoring.

Ashton Turner then made an unexpected move, giving Ashton Agar the second over, which proved to be a masterstroke, with only two runs coming off it. Travis Head struck early in Payne’s second over, but he was caught on the boundary for nine by Stephen Eskinazi.

Eventually, the Strikers were dismissed on a score of just 92 in 17 overs, with Adam Hose (30 runs in 23 balls) being their highest scorer. For the Scorchers, Payne, Lance Morris, and Hatzoglou took three wickets each, while Andrew Tye took one wicket.

Despite losing two early wickets, the chase turned out an easy one for the team led by Ashton Turner. Aaron Hardie played a valiant knock of 43 runs in 30 balls, with three boundaries and as many sixes. He was perfectly supported by Josh Inglis (22 runs in 16 balls), who stayed unbeaten to chase down the target in under 12 overs.
