Watch: Ben Stokes bowls a jaffa to dismiss ‘unlucky’ Virat Kohli

Published on

One of the greatest batsmen in the modern-day game, Virat Kohli is enduring the worst slump of his cricketing career. The former Indian captain’s century drought has been troubling him for quite some time. He hasn’t looked at his best and the fans are wondering whether he will ever dominate the world like he used to in the past.

There is no denying that his luck isn’t going his way at the moment. He is getting out in bizarre fashion and was evident on Sunday as well. Coming in to bat at number four in India’s second innings against England, Virat Kohli looked in pristine touch. He opened his account with a good-looking cover drive and didn’t play a single false shot.

However, the Indian cricketer was undone by a jaffa which no batter could have done much about. Ben Stokes pitched the ball on a good length but it spat off the surface and kissed Kohli’s gloves as he tried to defend the ball.

Sam Billings couldn’t take the catch as it slipped out of his gloves. However, Joe Root standing beside him was alert. He was quick enough to see the ball and grab it only to sending Virat Kohli back to the hut for a well-made 20 off 40 balls.

Despite Virat Kohli getting out early in both innings, India are in a pretty good position in the match. India have managed to score 125 for the loss of 3 wickets in their second innings at the end of Day 3 in the second Test match.

India currently lead by 257 runs and still have seven more wickets in hand. Cheteshwar Pujara has reached his half-century, while Rishabh Pant is unbeaten on 30 off 46 deliveries. After the Test match, the two teams will be locking horns with each other in a three-match T20I series, starting 7th July 2022.
