The former Pakistan skipper, Babar Azam once again displayed his compassionate side as he immediately showed concern after hitting a six that accidentally struck a spectator during the third T20I against New Zealand on January 17. While executing a flat-batted pull shot, the prolific Pakistan batter dispatched the ball over the deep square leg boundary off Matt Henry’s bowling in the 13th over of Pakistan’s run chase.

Despite the impressive hit, Babar expressed concern as the ball inadvertently struck a fan who appeared to be attempting to catch it on the grass banks. How the hot was not that bad enough and there was nothing to worry about. But the reaction of Babar has won the heart of many fans in the cricketing circle. Here is the video of the six which was followed by Babar’s reaction;

Despite Babar Azam’s commendable performance, securing his third consecutive half-century, Pakistan faced another defeat, trailing 0-3 in the best-of-five series against New Zealand. In pursuit of 225 to stay competitive, Pakistan succumbed to a 45-run loss. Babar, who recently relinquished captaincy across formats due to a dip in form, struggled in the preceding Test series in Australia. However, his remarkable T20I record, averaging over 42 with a strike rate close to 130 in 107 matches, reflects his prowess in the shortest format.

New Zealand beat Pakistan by 45 runs

Pakistan’s struggles in the Trans-Tasman region persisted as they suffered a third consecutive defeat, leading to the loss of the T20I series against New Zealand. Following a 3-0 defeat in the Test series against Australia, Pakistan turned to T20Is, historically a favourable format for them. However, the trend of bowling difficulties continued, with the bowlers facing challenges in all three T20Is.

The Pakistan cricket team, colloquially known as the Men in Green, has faced substantial challenges in the ongoing T20I series against New Zealand, conceding 226, 194, and 224 runs in the first three games. Despite commendable efforts from the top-order batsmen, the team has struggled in the latter stages of the run-chases due to inconsistent performances from the middle and lower order. In the latest defeat, Finn Allen’s spectacular 137 off 62 deliveries propelled New Zealand to an imposing total. As Pakistan seeks redemption, the remaining T20Is are scheduled for January 19 and 21 in Christchurch before the T20 World Cup in June.
