Asia Cup 2023
Watch: Arshdeep Singh’s parents comment on his performance in the India vs Pakistan Super 4 match in Asia Cup 2022
Arshdeep’s Parents said that they loved the atmosphere in the stadium which was quite electrifying.
The second blockbuster game between India and Pakistan on Sunday lived up to its reputation as the crowd was treated with an ‘edge of the seat’ thriller. Pakistan emerged victorious in the mega clash and made their journey to the finals less stressful. At one stage, India looked like running away with the game but a dropped catch by Arshdeep Singh in the 17th over turned the match in Pakistan’s favour.
Meanwhile, a Pakistan journalist, Rizwan Haider interacted with Arshdeep’s parents after the game. Arshdeep’s parents were also present inside the stadium during the match and, later, commented on their son’s performance. Arshdeep’s mother Baljit Kaur was of the opinion that if he had 12-13 runs to defend in the final over, the seamer would’ve won the game for India.
Commenting on Arshdeep’s dropped catch, his father Darshan Singh said that it’s all a part and parcel of the game. He further said that he loved the atmosphere in the stadium which was quite electrifying.

It all happened on the third ball of the 17th over when Asif Ali mistimed a shot as the ball went high up in the air. Arshdeep Singh, who was stationed at short third man, couldn’t hold onto a sitter. However, the seamer made a terrific comeback with just 7 runs needed in the final over.
Arshdeep turned the game on its head as he dismissed Asif Ali on the fourth ball of the over with Pakistan still needing two runs to win. But, Pakistan got home with a ball to spare and avenged their loss in the first game.
Pakistan have almost got one foot in the finals of the tournament after their victory last night. The journey for India has become tougher as both their remaining matches will be knockout fixtures now. The Men in Blue need to finalize their playing eleven for the next two matches and bring their campaign back on track. India will next face Sri Lanka on Tuesday at Dubai starting at 7:30 pm (IST).
