Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma was seen preparing for her role in Jhulan Goswami’s biopic Chakda Xpress. The film is inspired by the life of the Indian pacer. Goswami made her international debut in 2002 against England. Since then, she has played 195 ODIs and 12 Tests, and has 245 and 44 scalps to her name respectively. The right-arm pacer captained the team from 2008 to 2011.

The 39-year-old was also part of the two finalist teams in the 2005 and 2017 ODI World Cups. Currently, she is playing the ongoing World Cup in New Zealand where India beat Pakistan in their first game but lost to the hosts in the second game. Meanwhile, Sharma is leaving no stone unturned to emulate the cricketer on screen.

Talking about the actress, this is her first film post giving birth to her daughter. In an interview in January this year, the 33-year-old had said that this film is a story of tremendous sacrifice, and an eye opener into the world of women’s cricket.

“It is a really special film because it is essentially a story of tremendous sacrifice. Chakda Xpress is inspired by the life and times of former Indian captain Jhulan Goswami and it will be an eye-opener into the world of women’s cricket. At a time when Jhulan decided to become a cricketer and make her country proud on the global stage, it was very tough for women to even think of playing the sport. This film is a dramatic retelling of several instances that shaped her life and also women’s cricket,” Sharma was quoted as saying by Netflix.
