The SA20 match between Durban’s Super Giants and Pretoria Capitals may have been low-scoring, but it was not without thrills and enticing face-offs. One such thrilling encounter occurred between Durban Super Giants captain Quinton de Kock and Pretoria Capitals pacer Anrich Nortje.

During the fourth over of the game, the South African teammates faced each other for the first time. De Kock had started the over on a high note by hitting a six on the second delivery. Nortje, on the other hand, had the last laugh when he sent De Kock back to the dressing room on the final ball of the over.

With a majestic delivery, Anrich Nortje sent Quinton de Kock’s off-stump flying. South Africa’s wicketkeeper-batter swung his bat in an attempt to clear the leg side ropes. But De Kock completely missed the ball, and he paid the price for his gamble by becoming the night’s third wicket.

Here is Anrich Nortje’s excellent delivery

After losing De Kock, the Durban-based side was at 20/3 at the end of the fourth over. The Pretoria Capitals bowlers delivered an outstanding performance, bowling out the Durban Super Giants for a meagre total of 80 runs.

Anrich Nortje took two wickets after allowing only 15 runs in 3.1 overs. Senuran Muthusamy, on the other hand, spearheaded the bowling attack with three wickets. South Africa’s all-rounder was also named Player of the Match.

Despite Phil Salt being out for a duck on the first delivery of the innings, the chase was a piece of cake for Pretoria Capitals. Will Jacks ripped through Durban’s Super Giants’ bowling attack, scoring a quickfire half-century at a strike rate of 224.

He was ably assisted by Theunis de Bruyn’s unbeaten 21-run knock. The Pretoria-based team easily won the game by eight wickets. Pretoria Capitals now sit comfortably atop the SA20 points table, thanks to their victory over Durban’s Super Giants. So far, the Pretoria team has scored 18 points in five games, winning four of them.
